I don’t know if it’s the fresh new year, or simply coincidence, but I have run across a plethora of really useful writing blog posts over the past few weeks.

I’ve included my favourites below.

Posts of the Week:

Deadlines – More than Nightmares from Pam Writes: Pam Parker is one of my favourite writing bloggers. In this post she talks about some of the positives deadlines bring.

Twenty-Five Ways to Come Up With Great Ideas for Your Writing from Ali Luke: Helpful tips on how to keep your creativity flowing.

5 Easy Ways to Improve Your Online Presence from Meghan Ward: I wish I’d had these tips a year ago!

5 Attitudes Towards Publishing You Should Avoid from Jane Friedman on Writer Unboxed: Tips for those of us who have yet to publish a novel, including a shout-out to editors.

Why Hire More Eyes? from C. Hope Clark: Seems like supporting editors is in the air these days! This post from C. Hope Clark discusses common misconceptions about having your work edited.

100 Words for Facial Expressions from Daily Writing Tips: I’ve bookmarked this for those times when I’ve written, “s/he smiled,” one too many times in a story.

How to Get Out of Your Own Way: The Secret to Becoming a Successful Writer from Anne R. Allen: With such an alluring title, I had to check out this post (who doesn’t want a secret to success?!).

A Good Ending from The Hack Novelist: Carey Graham’s post about story endings resonated with me because I recently read a book with an ending I can’t forget: Michael Faber’s The Crimson Petal and the White.

Is Your Website Hurting Your Writing? from the Creative Pen (guest post by James Chartrand): I referenced this post several times when re-designing my site.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like for an Agent? from Carly Watters: I haven’t really delved too deeply into the land of agents yet, but I love Carly’s blog, and this post is great for those of us new to the world of agents.

I’m always looking for new blogs to read, so please feel free to share them below!

Fantastic list. I actually am familiar with some of these sites, so it was fun to see them up on your blog.

I really like being directed to specific links. I’m not able to daily visit every single blog that I follow, so I’m bound to miss great posts. This helped me out.

    Thanks!
