Freshly Pressed Excitement & Favorite Posts of the Week

WOW. What a day! Being included on the list of Freshly Pressed blogs yesterday was a fantastic surprise. Thank you to everyone who has dropped by!

The best part of the Freshly Pressed experience has been hearing from so many other writers! If you haven’t had a chance to check out the comments from the Freshly Pressed post, there are a ton of great tips about writing in coffee shops – I’d highly recommend taking a look.

I have been reading all of the comments, and replying as fast as my fingers will type, but in reality I won’t be able to respond to everyone. Please know that I really appreciate that you took the time to comment, even if I don’t manage to reply.

I thought the perfect way to end this week would be to spread the blog love by sharing a few posts that I have come across recently. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Favorite Posts of the Week:

1. 20 Classic novels you can read in one sitting: Need to up your classic reading? This post from Daily Writing Tips will give you a quick fix (or 20 of them).

2. Instead of reading this post, you could be writing: Lisa Rivero’s post gives writers (especially those of us who also love blogs) a much-needed wake-up call. Guaranteed to get you writing!

3. 10 Ways Journaling Makes You a Better Writer: Jamie Wallace makes a case for a regular journaling practice over on  the New Hampshire Writer’s Network.

4. You Will Never Publish a Word: Nina Badzin shares motivating advice from her first writing teacher.

5. The Fate Factor: Nathan Bransford writes about what’s in our control as writers, and what’s not.

Happy writing!

  • Glad you did get freshly pressed – it’s great to get to know your blog. :) Thanks for the links. I’ll check them out.

  • Carrie – TKS so much for including my post on journaling in your picks! :) I had a post “Freshly Pressed” a few months back and it was such a thrilling thing. Congrats to you on getting spotted. I hope you enjoyed the ride. (We may blog for the love of writing, but it’s nice to get a little attention now and again, right?) ;)

Looking fwd to checking out your other picks and your blog.
    Have a great weekend!

    • Congrats on being Freshly Pressed again today, Jamie! It is a wild ride, but such a blast. Thanks for stopping by!

  • Carrie,

Congrats on being Freshly Pressed. It is fun, isn’t it? And, I love your favorite link roundup. Looking forward to reading more from you :)

    • Thanks Christi! It sure has been fun! I never in a million years expected it, but I sure am glad it happened. It’s been so nice to hear from so many other writers. Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed!! :D And thank you very much for the mention today. I’m honored to be included in such terrific company.

  • Oh wow! Thank you so much for including me in this roundup. Such great company. Nina :)

  • Oh, so many of those “20 classics” are glaring at me from my bookshelf!

By the way, let’s all admit the role TV plays in having “no time” to write.

    Thanks for the wonderful inspiration.

    • Classics have a way of glaring at you from the shelf, don’t they. That post definitely motivated me to dust a few off. I used to alternate between reading one piece of modern lit and a classic work, but that was back in my university days. I somehow lost that practice over the years, but perhaps I need to bring it back. Thanks for your comment!

  • I’m certain that you contribute to the awesomeness of WordPress’ ‘sauce’. WordPress is great because there are so many people contributing different spices to that awesome sauce :) Thanks for your comment, and good luck with your blog!

  • Thanks for the list up. Now heading to read the posts. I would love to write those 20 classics but unfortunately I don’t have a credit card to buy books from Amazon. :(

  • I miss having the triple digit comment day–definitely know what you mean about your fingers flying. LOL!

I liked the posts you included in your round-up. I hope you’ll submit one of yours into my blog carnival. :)

    Happy writing!

  • Congrats on being Freshly Pressed! And thank you for the list – a great group, all with solid advice.

  • Congrats on Freshly Pressed! I hesitated to comment there as you already had like 400 comments or something! I write in coffee shops all the time (it will make me write because I’ve deliberately gone there to do it!) but can’t write where I’m overlooked, like on trains. Silly really!
I found your no. 3 choice above (about journaling) really interesting too.

    • Hello Moose! Thanks for stopping by! I don’t think it’s silly at all: it’s like putting on your sneakers to go running – once they’re on you feel pretty silly if you don’t get yourself out the door.
